“A pillar of modern beauty and style… a clean, uninterrupted 360-degree view of the flames, free of seams” — the maker’s brief for its glass-ring central. It comes in two sizes — the 1600, and the Foster-commissioned 2000 — each on wood or gas.
Four curved panels of 4 mm glass — two fixed, two sliding on rails — wrap the fire completely. Every seat in the room gets the flame, none gets the smoke.
“The assembly is done with invisible, ground weld seams” — the maker’s line. A trumpet of 3 mm steel — 1120 mm in the 1600, 1160 in the 2000 — that reads as one poured piece.
Central, on a base, over a non-combustible floor — the fireplace as the building’s centre of gravity, for homes and commercial halls alike.

The maker’s numbers
The 1600 on wood below. The 2000 — commissioned through Norman Foster’s office — runs a 1160 mm hood, a 600 mm glass ring, a 10¾″ flue and a 9 ft ceiling minimum. On gas, either size runs 27,000–42,000 BTU/hr of natural gas (up to 43,500 on propane) with remote, electronic ignition and flame adjustment.

Quick answers
Two of the four curved panels slide on rails — you load the fire bowl through them, then close the ring. Four millimetres of glass all round is why the fire reads open from every seat while the room stays clean.
Non-combustible throughout — the unit sits directly on it (the manual’s unit-to-floor figure is zero) with protection rated R≥1.8 reaching 18″ out from the glass in Canada. Concrete, stone and tile all qualify; we confirm yours on the visit.
A factory-built HT chimney — UL 103 in the US, ULC S629 in Canada. The 1600 runs a nominal 8″ flue with at least 17 ft from floor to chimney cap; the 2000 runs the line’s big 10¾″ flue and wants 19 ft. The centre of a room with a straight shot up is exactly what both were designed for.
