Do I need a chimney?

No. The S40 is direct vent — a 4″ intake and 6⅝″ exhaust run out a wall or up through the roof, vertical or horizontal termination.

How close to the wall can it sit?

The manual’s clearances are 11⅜″ to a sidewall, 5″ to the back, 7.43″ in a corner, 0″ on a hard floor (hearth pad on carpet). Send us a photo of the spot and we’ll confirm the fit.

What’s the upkeep?
